ILLINOIS DOMESTIC WORKERS BILL OF RIGHTS (DWBR)
In 2016, Illinois became the 6th state to pass the Domestic Workers Bill of Rights (House Bill 1288). This bill grants protections to caregivers, nannies, house cleaners, and other privately employed domestic workers. This bill provides domestic workers* with:

the right to be paid a minimum wage

the right to receive paid time off

the right to receive overtime pay

the right to have one day of rest each week for 20+ hours of work

the right to be protected against sexual harassment in the workplace
ADDITIONAL MILESTONES
As of January 1, 2022, all domestic workers employed in the city of Chicago have the right to provide their own written contract in their preferred language.
As of July 1, 2022, all domestic workers, including those working in childcare, housekeeping, and home health services, must make $15.40 regardless of employer size.
