Joy Magana
Joy is a sophomore at University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) participating in a Global Asian Studies course as an intern for AFIRE. She is minoring in Global Asian Studies and plans to major in criminal justice her junior year. Joy first became involved with UIC’s Asian Studies programs the summer before her freshman year of college. Since then, she has been apart of the community’s classes learning much about the history and experiences immigrants have gone through. Joy has been well-rounded in different types of jobs from being a fire cadet, to working in retail, to being a graphic artist. Although, she balances all her work with spending time with friends and family.
